Meeting

For me it started just like any other day. Got up a bit peeved with the thought of having to rely on Public Transport, (but that’s another story!) to get to my destination. The fascinating thing is it all went to plan, which was a first for me, and at least it was a day away from my place of work. The only problem was finding a seat on the train, which proved to be the start of my little adventure.
My colleagues and I had to split up so I was not happy with the thought of sitting on a packed train with no one I knew. No laptop. No book. Feeling totally naked except for a train ticket and directions to the venue. I managed to find a seat that was next to a woman who looked about my age, with her head in a book. Me being as nimble as an elephant with attitude, managed to fall over and onto this poor lady, who lets say managed to be more dignified for me. She helped sooth my red face and apologies away with such grace it almost had a touch of royalty to it.
After the initial shock of making a total prat of myself and a 1,000 apologies later we both managed to make introductions. She shook hands with me and instantly, like bringing in a new person or object into a familiar environment, settled me with an instant calmness. Something that I had not felt since the tenderness of a mothers love. I felt extremely weird, but somehow elated by this total stranger. Had it been me she might have had more ear ache than a nagging wife!
Her hand was gentle, but firm as we shook, she introduced herself.
'I'm Pamela, Pamela Price. Nice of you to drop in... so to speak' she said with a soft laugh.
Instantly, with the blubbering gone I was able to spurt out my name and thank her once again, why again? I don't know, for making my landing a safe and pleasant fall. Just glad I never had the regular Starbucks glued to my hand, the thought...
It came as no surprise, in an instant we got chatting, the usual traveling innuendo. Where you heading? It seemed a bit ironic when my reply was 'Birmingham'. She looked at me and laughed gently. 'Not bad considering we are on the Birmingham Express, 1 pick-up, 1 stop-off.'
For over an hour we talked intensely. Locked into our own little zone. To passers by we could have been perceived as very good friends. Lovers would have been too extreme as the evidence of passion smoldered like a snuffed-out candle. Although there was a mutual attraction, it never surfaced. This was a journey about life. The mistakes. The good bits. The sad. The most memorable. Wish I had done this, or that. Love, hate. It was an amazing insight, not just about myself but how I got to where I am today. My misconceptions of my youthful years. Things I never thought about or gave second thoughts swirled inside me like a tornado. All I wanted to do was let go of this energy, but not in a destructive way. Every part of me ached with an infusion of thoughts.
You may have met Pamela yourself on your travels? Maybe you know her? Is she familiar? After our journey I felt as if I had known her all my life! The hard part is trying to describe her without being too intrusive and publishing a lot of her thoughts. So in turn I am going to let you know some facts that we talked about. The laughs we shared. The sadness she has endured. Who she is today. Her plans for the future. I never thought I could absorb a lot of information in such a short time. Somehow I managed to do so. I had to, its been a whole host of emotions since my journey that I simply could not ignore it!
Where do I begin? I could just start by saying everything about her. But there would be no logic to that. If you have met or know her, you too would do the same! Putting Pamela into perspective. She is 46 years of age. Born in the UK, Merseyside. Is about 5ft 6" of medium build. Her hair falls past her shoulders. It is olive black. Dresses very smartly, but she was on business. Has the most captivating green eyes. I suppose she sounds like anyone and everyone. Maybe I am being vague? What I am going to do is tell you a 101 things about her. Then if you meet or already know her, you will understand and feel privileged that you do.
101 Things
Its funny when you think about it? What am I, waffling on about? Its just this. I want everyone who has met this remarkable lady to come forth. Maybe you were with her on one of her exploits? If so write your side of the story! She told me that once she ate a raw onion, like an apple when she was at school. She became instantly known as Ringo. No not the Beatles drummer. Kids being kids, duly related her to a packet of crisps. They were onion flavoured rings. So if you are reading this, are you one of those that dared her? Why did you dare her. Was she funny. Popular. An attention seeker? I don't know. But you may do! So that's the first thing I have disclosed about her and the rest is to follow...
